Despite Covid limitations curtailing regular monthly meetings at the Church Hall, the Hermanus Photographic Society participated via virtual “Zoom” meetings. This allowed the September meeting to have a judge (Alan Gould) from the UK and with it a very successful meeting.

The set subject this month for the club was “Triptych – a story in three photos” and Alan Gould was very impressed with the entries with the winner being Treurnicht du Toit’s “A Goliath Heron in Action”.

Winner of the Senior Image of the Month was “Iridescence” by Carina de Klerk and Junior Image of the Month, by Sheron Pretorius, was “Starry Starry Night”.

While physical meetings were not possible, the club remains active with regular participation including the First Friday Art Walk and Hermanus Art in the Park, although the weather was none too cooperative on Sunday the 5th. On that vein however, the club will be participating on 26 September over the long weekend and again on Sunday 3 October.

And on Wednesday 15 September, from 5.30pm club members are having an outing, albeit with strict Covid protocols, at the Vermont Salt Pan with its excellent sunset and bird photography opportunities. Members of the public are also invited to attend.

The club continues to have success at both National and International levels with last month members having achieved no less than five gold, one silver and one bronze medal being obtained along with 19 other awards at various photographic salons internationally.
