The Hermanus Photographic Society and the Romney Marsh Photographic Society from the UK held their first International Challenge Match by Zoom on the evening of 25 June 2020 and a very successful event it was.
The event had 20 photos from each club entered and they were judged by Paul Parkinson LRPS CPAGB who was suitably impressed by the quality of the Hermanus club entries, so that indeed Hermanus Club Members took the first eight places and also 9 out of the first 10.
There were joint winners with Luke Horsten’s “The Titans” and Deon Steenkamps “At Sunset” and with Treurnicht du Toits’s “The Last Breath” in third place.
It was also a good social meeting with Hermanus Club members finding out that Romney Marsh is just not the name of a breed of sheep well known locally, but also the UKs only official desert and for centuries a haven for smugglers.
Both clubs were pleased with the event and will continue this new tradition in future years.
