Eggs, Excellence and Art: Hermanus Photographic Society at FynArts Festival

The 70th Anniversary Travelling Exhibition of the Photographic Society of South Africa (PSSA) is currently on display in Hermanus — marking the first time this prestigious national collection is being shown in the Western Cape.

As part of the annual FynArts Festival, the exhibition is open daily until 16 June at the Hermanus Dutch Reformed Church (NG Kerk) on Church Street, Hermanus.

This curated selection features 37 photographs, chosen from over 850 submissions by top photographers from across the country. The images represent a wide range of genres and styles — from landscapes and wildlife to sport, portraiture and visual art — showcasing the very best in South African photography today.

In addition to the national display, the Hermanus Photographic Society is presenting its own exhibition, titled “How to Fry an Egg” — a creative, look at life through the lenses of 20 local photographers, who together are showing 43 prints.

As one of four active photographic clubs in the Overberg — alongside clubs in Kleinmond, Gansbaai and Swellendam — the Hermanus club is proud to bring this rare visual experience to the local community. The exhibition offers both professional-level artistry and everyday stories, told in striking and imaginative ways.
