Members of the Hermanus Photographic Society joined locals from Stanford at the Betrag Gallery on Wednesday 15 January, to hear two photographers outline their perspectives as part of Talk No 2 in the series of “Diverse Perspectives – Behind The Lens”.
The Betrag Gallery showcases an eclectic mix of local talent and exciting guest artists from across the region and at this talk two of the exhibitors, Eva Gilliam and Jonathan Taylor, set out their photographic journeys and life.
Eva Gilliam is a versatile videographer and photographer with two decades of experience working across Africa, focusing mainly on humanitarian news, natural disasters, and collaborations with international NGOs. She covered her rationale for each of her photos on display.
Jonathan Taylor in turn explained his work from the Shepherding Back Biodiversity Project on Kromelboog as part of his project documenting sustainable farming practices and conservation efforts in the Great Karoo. His images exhibited were a striking series of lamb portraits that highlight the bond between humans and nature.
