The final selection of images for the Hermanus Photographic Society (HPS) art exhibit was announced on 4 May at the club meeting. Print images from 15 photographers will be on display from 16-19 June at the Station Mall in downtown Hermanus. It forms part of the Hermanus FynArts programme.
We received 96 entries from 15 club photographers. Two art experts, photographer and master printer Lawrence Brennon and artist Lisa van der Walt, assisted with selecting images that would appeal to the public and uphold the principles of the FynArts festival. The festival is set to promote music, visual, preforming, literary and culinary arts and runs from 10-19 June.
On display will be a divergent style of photography. “Our members embrace free expression and the emphasis is very much on creative individuality,” says David Wilson, president of HPS. The club is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 19h00 at the Dutch Reformed Church (NG Klerk), Hermanus. The public is welcome to attend the events.
